De-Socializing Network
The exhibit, Anti-social Networking, which locates at the entrance of the art festival, aims to give visitors a general view of the history, phenomena and negative effects of social networking nowadays. The exhibit is designed in a way that leads visitors through the history of social networking, presents visitors with provocative artworks that reveal the negative social networking phenomena, and pushes visitors to think about the causes, effects and implications of these phenomena.
Exhibit
Two parts make up the exhibit. First is a section with display boards that illustrate the timeline of the development of social networking, and with interactive exhibits from telegraphs to touch screens computers that are connected to the Internet. After learning the history of social networking, visitors walk into a gallery that presents a variety of artworks by artists from all over the world with an emphasis on the de-socializing network. Artists provocatively express their concerns about issues associated with the popularity of online social networking, such as social alienation, online stalking, cyber bullying, etc.
